Question for oral answers – 12th December  2011 – 1312/’11

Hon Ravi Karunanayake – To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs.
a)    Will he state for year 2010 and 2011  separately
i)    The total cost for renting or leasing of buildings which are not owned by the Ministry of Defence;
ii)    The square footage rate of rented or leased buildings; and
iii)    The leasing period of the buildings?
b)     Will he also state in relation to the Ministry of Defence for aforesaid years separately-

i)    The total money spent on hiring or leasing vehicles which do not belong to any of the ministry related entities;
ii)    The total number of vehicles owned;
iii)    The other outsourced services;
iv)    The cost incurred in outsourced services mentioned above;
v)    The number of people who have been contracted on outsourced basis, and
vi)    The total staff strength?

c)     If not, why?

Answers
a)    i)    Rs.5,589,642.73 (fifty five lakhs, eighty nine thousand six
hundred and forty two rupees and seventy three cents)
ii)    Square footage rate changes for the rooms at BMICH are Rs.100
and Rs.130  (according to the provided facilities), as well as a square footage rate hasn’t been quoted for the Renuka building.
iii)    Relevant officers  are being functioning up to now by renting the rooms at BMICH since 06.08.2006, 01.04.2009 and month of May 2009 consecutively.

b)      i)  Rs.756,000 (Seven lakhs, fifty six thousand rupees) have been spent for hiring the
vehicle in that relevant time period.
ii)  Approximately 77 (Seventy seven)
iii)  In the case of cleaning matters at the offices, services have
been obtained for the relevant two years.



iv)  Three point six (3.6) million rupees in the year 2010, one point nine (1.9) million
rupees in the year 2011 (up to 31st of July) have been spent.
v)   No.
vi)  Four hundred and ten (410) in the year 2010 and four hundred and seventeen (417) in
the year 2011.

c)    Not relevant.
