Special fund to be collected to repair UNP head quarters

sirikotha-fundUNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe stated that funds will soon be collected for the repairs on the party headquarters which was attacked by angry loyalists following the party elections last month.The party leader branded the attackers as enemies of the parties and stated that those who defend or protect them will also be branded as enemies. The Opposition Leader made these comments at a press conference held at the Sirikotha today (January 4) after the Lakwanitha Women’s Organization handed a sum of Rs.110,000 for the repairs on the party headquarters.

The Three Wheeler Drivers Wives Association also donated a sum of Rs.5000 for this purpose.

Mr Wickremasinghe  further said  that the government’s ascent needed to be stopped while he will not allow the UNP’s leg to be pulled in the future.

Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today said those who attacked the party head quarters ‘Sirikotha’ on December 19 and those who are defending them are enemies of the party.

These comments by the UNP leader comes after several provincial council members and others in the party were arrested and released on bail after the commotion that took place in the party head quarters during the election of new office bearers while some of the dissident MPs have already spoken against these arrests.

Mr. Wickremesinghe who accepted cash donations for the reconstruction of party head quarters ‘Sirikotha’ and a new computer at the UNP media center said no one would be allowed to rock the boat in the New Year as the party would go all out against the government during this year.

Mr. Wickremesinghe also said they will be organising  series of plans  to defeat the corrupt Rajapaksa government and  establish UNP regime to restore the democracy and law and order in the country

He said that under this regime it is clear that people in the country are suffering due to the high cost of living and the absent of the  democracy. Therefore, this year would be a decisive year for us as they will be strengthening the party to defeat the government in a democratic way

Mr Wickremasinghe  also said  those who attacked the party head quarters ‘Sirikotha’ on December 19 and those who are defending them are enemies of the party. Former Prime Minister D.S Senanayake established the UNP to protect the UNP and the people
