The UNP has expressed concerns over the government's decision to take monies from the retirement fund account to construct a secretariat. UNP legislator and head of the UNP trade union wing, Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena has said the government should make arrangements to get money from the Treasury to build a pensions secretariat instead of taking it from the EPF account.

Leader of the opposition and the UNP Ranil Wickremesinghe has apologized from party supporters and the entire nation for failing to protect the party headquarters Sirikotha from attackers. Speaking in parliament today (Dec. 20), he asked the government to conduct an impartial and proper investigation into the attack on Sirikotha.
